Release of Wage Garnishment

The wage garnishment is one of the most effective ways the IRS may legally collect unpaid tax debt. Before your wages may be garnished, the IRS must first issue a “Final Notice of Intent to Levy and Notice of your Right to a Hearing.” Do not ignore this notice because it will be more difficult to resolve in the long run. Once your employer is notified to begin garnishing your wages, they are required to collect a large portion of your paycheck. This will last until your IRS tax debt is paid in full or if the IRS agrees to a release.
