Originally from Los Angeles, Dawn spent most of her young life at the beach or playing basketball. After realizing she was not going to have her dream career as a professional athlete, she turned to her studies.

It was at Southern Methodist University that she fell in love with the law by taking a first amendment and business law class. Thereafter, she attended law school in Washington D.C., where she interned at the public defender service and the department of justice.

After graduating law school, she made the bold move to Manhattan and took her first job in a commercial litigation firm with a spectacular view from the Empire State Building. That work experience led her to join the prestigious law firm at Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison.

Although she did not realize it at the time, while at Paul Weiss, working on a complicated tax case wherein top tax firms were found to be engaging in accounting errors and fraudulent financial practices, she had found her true calling. From the ruling on this case spawned the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, which established sweeping auditing and financial regulations for public companies. She was hooked.

Ten years in passing, Dawn chose to move back to Southern California, accompanied by a wealth of knowledge and experience and soon founded the federal IRS tax firm, Delia Law P.C. in 2011. With offices in San Diego and Los Angeles, she has recently expanded into New York and Maryland. She is known by her clients and by peers as approachable, non-judgmental, trustworthy, and a top professional within the field.

“Dawn was instrumental in helping me win a battle against an IRS audit on very technical tax issues. She crafted a masterful case, which reduced my tax liability by more than half. Her billing was very fair and refreshing in an industry that likes to run the meter.” J.D. Del Mar

Dawn’s federal tax firm contributes their time and pro-bono services, particularly to veterans and domestic violence victims. When not reviewing tax files, she is a full time Mom to two well-loved teenage daughters, and devotes much of her free time supporting their excellence at softball with the North Shore Softball League and at Torrey Pines High School.
